We are delighted to announce that free business growth related courses are being delivered during 2007 to business women in Essex by the Centre for Women’s Enterprise, University of Bedfordshire. Funding was won from the East of England Development Agency and European Social Fund for the “Enterprising Women” project of which we are one of the 7 delivery organisations. The project has one goal: to increase the number of successful women in business in the East of England.
To qualify for the free training women need to live or work in Essex, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Suffolk and Norfolk and have been self-employed for 9 months to 3 years. This can be extended to 5 years if the workshop is of value to the individual.
Our first 2 courses in Essex, “Growth Experiences of Self-employed Women” on the 22nd November and “Strategic Alliances for Growth” on the 7th December, are taking place at Harlow – a few spaces are currently available. Further courses will cover areas such as marketing, negotiation skills, funding sources, customer relationships, and pricing for profit - all having a business growth focus. These courses will be held at various venues across Essex, depending on where demand is most needed.
The Centre for Women’s Enterprise, University of Bedfordshire, was set up 18 months ago and offers inspiration, support, development, growth and a sense of community. It runs a series of talks, networks, workshops, case studies and research – all designed to enhance women’s skills and capabilities. The University’s Knowledge Hub holds workshops and training throughout the year for women and men business owners.
