Statement of Licensing Policy

The Council is required by law to publish a ‘Statement of Licensing Policy’.  The Statement sets out the principles that the Council will apply in exercising its functions under the Licensing Act.  The main objectives are:

  • prevention of crime and disorder;
  • public safety;
  • prevention of public nuisance; and
  • protection of children from harm.

Please find the 'Statement of Licensing Policy' for 2008-2011 in full in the download area.

The Council is required to review the 'Statement of Licensing Policy' on a regular basis and at least every three years to ensure it is up to date.

The second review of the Statement is under way and

includes recent revisions made under licensing law such as mandatory conditions on licences.  These conditions aim to reduce binge drinking, the harmful effects of drunkeness and the anti-social behaviour which is often associated with it.

You are invited to take part in this review by letting the Council know what you think.  The consultation finishes at the end of October 2010, so please feed back to us by then.

The proposed Statement of Licensing Policy for 2011-14 can be found in the download area.  If you would like to make comments about the Statetement, please do so by:

  • writing to the Licensing Team at Maldon District Council, Princes Road, Maldon CM9 5DL
  • emailing licensing@maldon.gov.uk or clicking on this link
