Find a Park or Open Space

Welcome to our Parks and Open Spaces interactive map.

This map/database is the result of more than a year's work in identifying, researching and recording every publicly accessible green space in the Maldon District.

We have also included a small number of sites in neighbouring Districts. Over 250 sites have been included, of which only 20 are owned or managed by Maldon District Council. The majority are managed by Town or Parish Councils, housing associations or conservation organisations.

For about 80 sites we have created a page of information giving brief details about how to find the site, what features and facilities the site provides and how to get more detailed information.

Most sites are open from dawn to dusk every day of the year but some have access restrictions to protect wildlife, and also have byelaws or rules prohibiting certain activities such as those involving motorised vehicles. We ask that all visitors observe any restrictions or byelaws in place, respect the site and give due consideration to other visitors.

Every effort has been made to ensure that the information displayed was accurate at the time of publication. The mapping data displayed on this site is captured at 1:2500 scale, this will result in shape boundary errors when viewed below 1:2500. Maldon District Council accepts no responsibility for any errors or omissions within this site.

We will try and keep this information up to date but visiting over 250 sites on a regular basis is a huge task. Therefore, we would welcome feedback from members of the public who visit any of the sites on the database and find a facility that has been improved or removed from the site or would like to provide any other information that may be of interest to other visitors.

We would also welcome ideas on ways to improve this database. Please send us your comments via our online Parks and Open Spaces Comments e-form. Alternatively, you can phone 01621 876240.
