This large coastal nature reserve is managed by Essex Wildlife Trust as a working farm. Previously, 90 acres of the site was arable land but this has recently been reverted back to grassland.
There are 2 bird hides on the site, one is open from April to October only and the other is open all year and can be found along the sea wall footpath. The site is important for brent geese, wildfowl and wading birds during the winter months. In the summer there are many types of breeding birds including skylarks and corn buntings and other wildlife such as watervoles and dragonflies.
Access to the site is restricted but the adjacent sea wall footpath offers good views over much of the site.
If you need any further help or advice, please contact the site warden on 01621 740687 visit the Essex Wildlife Trust website.
