Promenade Park, Maldon

Promenade Park is the District's most popular park and it has undergone a major refurbishment programme over the last four years. An updated map of the park is available in the Download Area of this page.

The park plays host to a wide range of events throughout the year. For details contact Maldon Tourist Information Centre on 01621 856503 or view the Summer Activities leaflet in the Download area.

Maldon Crabbing Championship

The 1st Maldon Crabbing Championship, held in the park on the 22nd August 2009, was a great success with 230 people of all ages battling it out to land the heaviest crab.

The winner of the Junior competition was Matthew Batchelor with a crab weighing in at 77g.

The winner of the over 13's competition was Fiona Smith with a crab of 57g.

  • Dedicated picnic areas with picnic tables.
  • Six separate retail outlets for refreshments and other merchandise.
  • Formal gardens with a pergola, shrub borders, an Anglia in Bloom award winning drought garden, three dimensional carpet bedding displays, and many floral borders.
  • Formal pitches (football, cricket, tennis courts) and additional provision for netball and basketball.
  • Changing rooms.
  • Three separate toilet blocks, including disabled facilities.
  • Car parking (pay and display), including designated disabled parking spaces and a separate coach park and drop off point.
