Mooring Information

Blackwater Moorings

Maldon District Council is responsible for a number of mooring areas from Maldon down to St Lawrence Bay on the south side of the River Blackwater. The Council is not responsible for moorings in Bradwell Creek or Tollesbury, and applications for moorings in these areas should be made to Essex County Council at the Bradwell Outdoor Education Centre or to Tollesbury Saltings Ltd respectively.

All Maldon District Council moorings are half tide moorings, which means they will dry out at low water. Some deep water moorings are available and applicants will need to identify those areas and contact the relevant moorings body for further information.

Houseboats

Maldon District Council does not have any areas within the River Blackwater that area suitable for houseboat moorings. Residential moorings are not permitted in the Maldon, Heybridge, Maylandsea, Tollesbury or Bradwell areas and all such moorings are subject to Planning regulations.
