Walking

A good network of footpaths and quiet country lanes enables both the casual explorer and the outdoor enthusiast to enjoy the open farmland and waterside areas of the District. A wide selection of walking routes, booklets, and maps are available at the Maldon District Tourist Information Centre together with advice on suitable routes and background information to the walks.

Walking in the District

A series of 5 guides are available to assist your exploration; be sure to visit the sea walls where "the sun rises over leagues of marsh made wonderful by strange mists" (author Arnold Bennett), the surrounding countryside, and the settlements in the area.
