Sport and Leisure

Maldon District Council is committed to the provision and development of sporting opportunities within the District boundaries.

Sport plays an integral part in the lives of many local people and attracts visitors to the area for both competitive and recreational sport.

The Maldon Blackwater Leisure Centre

The location of the Maldon District on the Essex coastline means that sailing is an important sporting pastime for many and the many sailing clubs are open to sailors of all levels and abilities.  Horse riding and golf are also popular with locals and visitors and the Blackwater Leisure Centre provides fun for all the family.

The development of sport involves working with local schools, clubs, facilities and coaches to ensure sporting opportunities are open to all.  The District works towards partnerships with the wider social agenda to use sport as a tool to address local issues such as health and community safety.
