This can be done using I am Moving, which will allow you to update all the relevant organisations through the one website.
Alternatively, please confirm your change of address either in writing or preferably by emailing customer.services@maldon.gov.uk.
We need you to tell us when you have moved out of the property, where you have moved to, who has taken over the property, and if possible a contact number for you in case we need to ask you some more information.

I have received my Council Tax Bill and I would like to use a different payment method.
Direct Debit: If you would like to pay by direct debit please download the form on our website.
Please note that we need at least 14 days notice to ask you for a payment using a new method so there might not always be time to set up a direct debit in time to take your next instalment.
You should make sure that your next instalment is paid manually, for example by using our website or automated telephone system.
Standing Order: You should contact your bank to set this up for you.

I think my property is banded incorrectly
Maldon District Council is not responsible for, and therefore cannot alter the banding of your property.
Individual properties might need to have their banding re-considered if the value increases or decreases. This may apply to you if:
- Your home decreases in value because:
- part of it is demolished
- substantial changes take place in the local area (for example a new road is built nearby)
- alterations have been carried out to make it suitable for use by a person with a physical disability.
- You start or stop using part of your home to operate a business, or the balance between business and domestic use changes.
- The home you have bought has a higher value because a previous owner has carried out major improvements, such as an extension; this would affect the banding for the new occupier and not the person who had the work done.
- You create a self-contained unit; such as an annexe.
- A house is split into individual flats or flats have been merged into one home.
- Information is brought to light that makes it clear that the original banding was wrong.
The decision on which band it is placed in is made by the Valuation Office and the Council is advised accordingly. You can find out more information by using the Valuation Office website.
