Local Compact

Local Compact
In 1998 the Government developed a national Compact by way of an agreement between with the voluntary sector in England on how they could best work to improve their relationship for mutual advantage and community gain. 94% of Local Authorities now have local Compacts.

Maldon District Council signed up to the local Compact "Getting it Right Together" on June 2005, and is a partner in the Local Compact Steering Group.

The Compact contains a series of Codes of Practice as follows:

Funding
Consultation and Policy
Black and Ethnic Groups
Community groups
Volunteering
General Support
