How safe is our District?

Maldon is a very safe area!

A recent survey of key crimes such as violence, burglary and auto crime revealed that Maldon is one of the safest districts in the County with comparatively low rates of all crime.

Although the District continues to enjoy low crime rates, the perception is that it has deteriorated. Even one high profile crime can have an enormous effect upon the local community. If your house is burgled it is of little personal comfort that your house was the only house in the village burgled that month.

Particular crimes that affect our community are:

  • marine crime
  • animal and fish rustling
  • farm and garden machinery thefts
  • burglary
  • assaults
  • vandalism.

Essex Police alone cannot prevent or solve these problems and a successful community safety approach requires the participation of local people: individuals, groups and organisations.

Such community based partnerships can assist in inhibiting and remedying crime and the causes of crime and help improve the life of all of our residents.
