Pest Control

 

Pests can affect any premises from time to time. The majority are harmless however there are a few pests that can cause more than a nuisance and can pose a risk to your health.

Many of these can be dealt with by using humane traps and chemicals available in shops but sometimes it is advisable to call in the experts to solve a persistent problem.

 

Maldon District Council has a small team of officers who specialise in getting rid of pests. Some of the techniques and controls they use are not available in shops.The team are trained and experienced to can carry out investigations providing the most appropriate treatment using environmentally safe and effective materials.

 

Domestic

 

With the exception of rats and cockroaches all

visits are chargeable. Please see our current pest charges.

 

Payment is due at the time of the visit for domestic premises.

 

Businesses

 

We can also provide discreet help with pests at business premises and offer Pest Control Contracts.

The Pest Control Officers are usually in the office Monday to Friday 8:30am – 9:15am before they begin the scheduled visits.

Insects - only a few species of insects in Britain are potentially harmful to health. These include cockroaches, bed bugs, and fleas. In commercial premises a group of insects known as 'stored products insects' can also be a problem. 

Birdstheir nests and eggs are protected by the Wildlife & Countryside Act 1981, and it is an offence to damage or destroy an active nest or prevent parent birds access to their nests. Contact RSPB.

 

Bats and their roosts in England, Scotland and Wales are protected by the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 (WCA). The Bat Conservation Trust Helpline number is 0845 1300 228.
