Disabilities Parking In The Maldon District

21 dedicated disabled parking bays are provided in the Council's Pay & Display car parks within Maldon town centre.

Additional parking bays are also provided in the Council's other car parks within the District. Badge holders are however not exempt from the 30 minute only rule within the marked limited waiting bays in White Horse Lane and Butt Lane car parks.

The Blue Badge must be displayed in all car parks.

Disabilities Parking Card holders are permitted to park on single or double yellow lines for up to three hours (providing the vehicle is not causing an obstruction).

·         The Blue Badge must be displayed together with the special blue parking disc showing the time of arrival.

There must be an interval of at least one hour from a previous period of waiting before the same vehicle can be parked in the same road or part of a road on the same day.

WHERE NOT TO PARK

  • Permit holder only car parks.
  • Residents parking, loading, taxi & cycle bays.
  • Pedestrian crossings including the zigzag markings before and after these crossings
  • School 'keep clear' markings.
  • Where it would make it difficult for others to see clearly e.g. close to a junction
  • Where it would hold up traffic e.g. in narrow stretches of road or blocking vehicle entrances.
  • At school entrances, bus stops, on a bend, or near the brow of a hill or hump bridge.

For a full list please see the Department of Transport, Local Government, Regions (DTLR) booklet 'The Blue Badge Scheme' ref T/INF/222 available form Essex County Council Social Services.
