What can I recycle at the kerbside? Why don't you recycle plastic? Where can I donate old IT equipment locally?
What can I do with drink cartons (Tetrapaks)? Please view the 'Recycling Banks' file in the download area. This will show five banks in the district where you can recycling your cartons. Cartons contain three different materials (foil, carboard and plastic), making it differcult to put it through normal recycling processes. This is why there have been few locations that recycled this material. The result of this meant cartons would require excessive transport, cost and emissions. As more markets are opening up there is a possibility that the district will get more banks to enable recycling accross the district. How can I show others what I am doing (or vote for someone else) to help the environment with the chance to become a Eco Champion for the district? This is a new community initiative, promoting two residents over the year to become the new Eco Champions for the district. Friends or family may vote and send in details of what that person does to show that they are an Eco Champion, why they derserve the prize and show not only how they care for our environment but also take pride in our district. The winner will get their story published in the Courier (with permission) and lots of environmental prizes. It will also show the community how residents are getting involved in their local area to make a different. How can I get involved with environmental community events? Call the Waste Department on (01621) 854477 to see how you get get involved or how to organise your own with help from the Council. |
