Black Recycling Box

Every property receives a paper collection which either goes in a black box or is recycled using a clear sack. Please see below for the type of paper you can recycle.

Collection Day:

Most properties in the Maldon District now have a weekly recyclable collection service on the same day as refuse collection. Click here for collections over a Bank Holiday. Please ensure you rubbish is presented no later than 7am the morning of collection or no early than dusk the night before.

What to recycle:

Paper

Newspapers

Magazines (no plastic film)

Soft-backed brochures or books

Junk mail

What not to recycle:

No wallpaper, hard-backed catalogues or books, or foil-backed paper

Yellow Pages (in your blue box)

Anything that is not paper!

Replacement sacks or boxes:

Please try to keep the paper dry. Lids and replacement boxes are available by clicking here and filling in our online form. If you require a replacement box or a collection to be made from clear sacks please contact us. You may also need to get in touch with us to receive more as recycling sacks are are not delivered with the black sacks.

Missed collections:

If your refuse or recycling has been missed and is reported that morning we will collect rubbish later that day. If you report the missed collection in the afternoon we will collect the next day.

Please note Bank Holiday collections are printed on the black sacks.

Fortnightly collections:
The collection schedule will also tell you if you have a weekly or fortnightly service. Rural areas receive a fortnightly collection of recyclables. Please check in the download section for whether you are on a red or green week collection.

Shredded paper:
If you wish to recycle shredded paper please sandwich it between newspapers to compress it. This will prevent littering.
