Green sacks

Residents can purchase special green waste sacks which can be booked onto our garden waste collection rounds. These cost £1 per sack which covers the additional cost of composting the waste and can be bought from the council offices. Please note there is an extra charge of 52p per sack if you want these posted to you, these can be requested by contacting us.

The last weekly collection for garden waste will be the week beginning 5 December 2011. The service will then become fortnightly until 27 February 2012 when weekly collections will start again.

Green wheeled bin

Garden waste collection is not part of the standard refuse collection service and will not be collected by refuse crews. However we are able to provide a green waste wheeled bin kerbside service for a small annual fee due 1 April.

What does the scheme offer?

  • Weekly kerbside collection from your property during peak growing season (March to November)
  • Fortnightly service throughout the rest of the year (December to February)
  • Removal of garden waste to local composting facility
  • 240 litre recycling wheeled bin delivered to each registered property
  • No more trips to the recycling centres for household waste
  • No more mess in your car

If you are interested in having a garden wheeled bin please send us your name, address and contact telephone number by email or contact us during office hours. The subscription year begins 1 April and we will be writing to all interested residents in the New Year once the 2012 fee has been agreed.
