Maldon Regatta September 2008

Essex Compost Expert Mr Arbuckle joined Maldon District Councils Recycling team at this event to promote composting. Compost bins and a kitchen composter were on display, and residents had the opportunity to discuss home composting. Further information about composting food waste is available at www.recycleforessex.co.uk

Compost Awareness Week 2008

Three roadshows were undertaken across the Maldon District in local supermarkets. These events had an excellent response to composting.

Real Nappy Week 2008

To celebrate Real Nappy Week, an Officer from the Council gave demonstrations and advice to parents around Maldon. The week started with two sessions at St Peter's Maternity Clinic advising parents-to-be and then visiting Morrisons for three days giving out money off vouchers, advice on different types of natural nappies, prizes and giveaways and general advice on waste minimisation, reuse and recycling.

Missed out on the event? Want to come next time? Want someone to come along to your event for an environmental focus? Got a good idea? Call Tina 01621 854477.

Clothes Recycling
LMBarry, a textile recycling company based in London proved a great success with the children. They got to take recycled hats and recreate them into something new using buttons, clips, glue, material, earrings, feather bowers and anything they could think of. The council would like to thank Claire Sewell from the Community Volunteer Service for volunteering to help with the activity.
