Determination of Residents
Cllr Mrs P Channer stated “This clearly demonstrates the determination of the residents and contractors for achieving an excellent recycling rate.

"This partnership alongside the Council can only mean the district can make further improvements for the future.”

Targets were achieved by improving the efficiency of the recycling collection service expansion, expanding the green waste service along with communication campaigns around the district and the Council's work in schools.

Waste Reduction
Residents should also be celebrating a reduction in the amount of waste produced in the district. Now standing at an impressive 0.20% per annual instead of 3.9% the previous year.

Success was also acknowledged with the Council’s partnership with the contractor MRS who has shown consistent improvements in the last two years in the service.

Last financial year the recycling rate proved to be the most improved district in Essex. In only a year the district increased recycling and composting by a massive 7.87%, highlighting Maldon’s performance as third in the county.
