The Members Allowances 2007/2008 document is produced in accordance with the Local Authorities (Members Allowances) Regulations 2003, and shows payments made during 2007/2008.

Following a report by The Independent Members' Remuneration Panel to Maldon District Council on September 13th 2007 the following allowances were agreed for the year 2007/2008

Basic allowance £3,400/annum

Broadband allowance £ 220/annum

Leader of the Council Allowance Basic allowance x 2.5

Deputy Leader of the Council Basic allowance x 1

Opposition Leader Basic allowance x 1

Chairman of the Council Basic allowance x 1

Vice Chairman of the Council Basic allowance x 0.25

Chairman of a main Committee Basic allowance x 1

Vice Chairman of a main Committee Basic allowance x 0.125

Planning Area Committee Chairman Basic allowance x 0.75

Planning Area Committee Vice Chairman Basic allowance x 0.125

Chairman of Audit Sub Committee Basic allowance x 0.1

Childcare and dependent carers allowance £6/hour

The Basic Allowance will be updated annually in April to reflect the cost of living increase applied to staff salaries. As of the 1st April 2008 the basic allowance payable will be £3,485 per annum.
