Councillor Code of Conduct

By law, the Council must monitor and maintain standards of conduct by District, Town and Parish Councillors within the boundaries of the District of Maldon.

Councillors must abide by a Local Code of Conduct, and here at Maldon District Council they are helped to do this by a Standards Committee. If a complaint is made, it is the job of this Committee to decide whether there has been a breach of the code.

Maldon District Council has a Monitoring Officer who works with the Committee and advises it how to deal with issues that it has to consider.
