Local Elections

District Council Elections
Elections for district and parish councils within the Maldon District are held every four years and take place on the first Thursday in May. All 31 Members of this authority are elected at the same time (whole elections).

The next scheduled elections will be held on 5 May 2011.

Parish Council Elections
There are 33 parishes within the District, three of which have combined to form single parish councils. Ordinary Elections for all the parishes take place at the same time as those for the District.

Essex County Council Elections
Whole elections for the Essex County Council also take place on the first Thursday in May every four years, the next taking place on 7 May 2009.

There are three electoral divisions within the Maldon District:

  • Heybridge and Tollesbury
  • Maldon 
  • Southminster.

Each of the above is represented one county councillor.
