Home > Your Council > Freedom of Information & Data Protection
The Freedom of Information Act 2000 gives people the general right to see recorded information held by public authorities. The Council’s Publication Scheme, which can be downloaded via this page, sets out the categories of information that are held and which will routinely be made available to the Public, without the need to make a specific request. Information may only be available in a particular form e.g. paper, electronic, and depending on the size of a document, a charge may be made.
Any other information held by the District Council, provided it is not defined as exempt under the Act, can be made available on request in writing, (letter, email or fax) to the Council. You may wish to use the request form which can also be downloaded via this page. For further assistance please telephone 01621 875791. Please note that the Freedom of Information Act 2000 does not cover personal information held about an individual; this is dealt with under the Data Protection Act 1998. For more information on the Freedom of Information Act, please see the Information Commissioner's website http://www.ico.gov.uk/. |
