Community Plan

The Community Plan is a long term, District-wide strategy for improving the quality of life for us all.

The Purpose
The purpose of the plan is to improve the social, environmental and economic well-being of the District, resulting in an improved quality of life both now and for generations to come. The Community Plan involves making plans for the kind of future we would like to see, and turning these plans into action.

Not a Local Authority Strategy
The Community Plan covers the Maldon District Local Authority area, but the Plan is not a Local Authority strategy. It is brought together and acted upon by all the different sectors that have an impact on the lives of the community, including public, private, business, community and voluntary.

The Maldon 2010 Partnership
Many of these organisations have committed themselves to working together for the future of the District – the Maldon 2010 Partnership.

Working Together
We recognise that no single organisation holds the key to improving the quality of life of the District; we can achieve far more if we work together rather than in isolation.

In particular, there are an enormous and diverse number of voluntary and community organisations operating within the District. We recognise that each makes a valuable contribution in delivering services, caring for people and improving quality of life and we want to encourage and build on the vital work undertaken by this sector.
