Level AA conformance icon, W3C-WAI Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0

Valid CSS!

Standards Compliance
W3C-WAI Level Double-A
Pages that carry the W3C-WAI Level Double-A icon (below), indicate conformance to all priority 1 and 2 checkpoints of the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0 (WCAG 1.0).

W3C-WAI Level Double-A

Please note that at present there is no automated way of checking conformance, therefore all pages bearing the logo do so as a result of manual reviews by our webmaster and other members of staff. The checkpoints to which we measure our site can be viewed here.

HTML 4.01 Transitional
Pages that bear the W3C-WAI Level Double-A icon also validate as HTML 4.01 Transitional, determined by the W3C Mark Up Validation Service.

The service checks the code used to write the website in order to ensure consistent appearance and functionality across all web browsers. You can check our pages for validation breaches at
http://validator.w3.org.

W3C CSS Validation Service
Similarly, we have designed our cascading style sheet to function in any web browser. This determined by the W3C CSS Validation Service, and a validation report for our style sheet can be viewed here.

LAWS Guidelines
We have also attempted to create pages that comply as far as possible with the LAWS (Local Authority Websites) guidelines.

LAWS is an e-government national project, and in March 2004, they published a summary of relevant usability and accessibility guidelines in conjunction with IBM, intended to ensure that Local Authority websites meet the most rigorous international requirements where necessary.
