Touring Artificial Ice Skating Rink comes to the King George V Playing Field, Southminster

13 10 08

Maldon District Council, in partnership with Southminster Parish Council, is pleased to announce the next event of the three year touring programme of free artificial ice skating for children of the Maldon District.  This is funded by the Big Lottery as part of the Maldon District Children’s Play Strategy.

The next event will be at the multi use games area at the King George V playing field from 27th to 30th October 2008.  Each day skating sessions will begin at 9.00am until 4.00pm and it is a first come, first served basis.  Skates are provided and don’t worry about any wet weather as the Ice Rink will have a roof to keep the rain off.

Children under 8 years old must be accompanied by an adult, with a maximum of two under 8’s per adult.  Children with mobility problems are very welcome.  For further information please contact the Tourist Information Centres Maldon 01621 856503, or Burnham-on-Crouch 01621 784962.

The Chairman of Maldon District Council’s Community Services Committee, Cllr Brenda Keighley, said “This follows on from the very successful free ice skating event held in Burnham-on-Crouch in August, which was enjoyed by some 2,400 children during the summer holidays keeping them fit and busy “

The Maldon District Children’s Play Strategy will also deliver new Playgrounds in Southminster and Maldon, as well as a Play Ranger Service for the Parishes.
