Maldon District Council

Bodycare

Bodycare is a 6 week health promotion scheme delivered in primary schools to children in years 5 and 6.

The scheme fits very well into the national curriculum, and can be linked to a science programme. It aims to:

  • Encourage children to become more active away from school
  • Teach children how the body changes during exercise
  • Teach children the benefits of an active lifestyle
  • Teach children the importance of a balanced diet

Each of the 6 lessons lasts 1 hour and includes a classroom and practical activity.

Children are encouraged to take part in physical activities away from school. For every 20 minutes of activity completed children receive a 'Fit Tick Sticker' that they collect in their workbook. There are certificates of participation for all children, and certificates of achievement for those children who are very active.

All equipment is provided by the tutor and the children will each receive workbooks and fit tick stickers, as necessary.

We would like to offer each school within the District the opportunity to receive Bodycare for 1 class completely free of charge! Bodycare courses for additional classes is charged at £70 per class.
