Concessionary Travel
National bus travel
Anyone who is of retirement age, or eligible disabled, is entitled to a concessionary travel pass that allows free off peak travel on buses, anywhere in England. The pass will entitle you to travel from 9am until 11pm on weekdays and all day on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays.
Do I qualify?
To qualify for a free travel pass, you must be a permanent resident of the Maldon District and fall into one or more of the following categories:
- be of pensionable age or over
- be registered disabled
- not permitted to drive, or likely to be refused a driving licence on medical grounds
All councils in Essex offer companion passes for those who require additional assistance when travelling.
How do I apply?
Please complete and return the appropriate application form and return it to us along with two passport sized photographs and the following documents:
- Confirmation of age
For example a copy of a birth certificate, passport, driving licence, NHS card, marriage certificate or pension book - Confirmation of residency
For example a copy of, a utility bill, bank statement, rent book - Confirmation of disability
If you are under 60 years old and wish to apply, you will need to provide confirmation of your disability, such as a blue badge or a disabled living allowance award letter, or in some circumstances a suitable doctor's declaration. The application form details documents that will be accepted
