Emergencies

In the event of a major emergency, such as widespread flooding, severe weather conditions, major accident or terrorist attack, the Council will open an emergency centre to coordinate a response.

The telephone number for the emergency centre is 01621 854477. If you experience difficulty in getting through by phone we may also be contacted during an incident by email at emergency.planning@maldon.gov.uk

A specific website has been developed and gives information and advice to the local community on what to do in the event of a major civil emergency.

The Council's Emergency Planning Unit is also keen to identify those people who might need specific help in the event of a major incident necessitating evacuation from their homes.  For example, it is important that we know if you are hard of hearing and unlikely to hear a loudhailer evacuation message, or are bedridden and unable to evacuate yourself without assistance.  You can complete the register here.
