Orchard Meadows consists of 5 adjoining meadows, each surrounded by hedges. The central meadow contains the remains of an old orchard with apple, pear, plum and walnut trees.
Some of the apple varieties present are quite unusual, including the highest known concentration of Maldon Wonder trees in the region.
The Friends of Southminster Community Open Spaces, Essex Biodiversity Project and the Council are working to restore the orchard which has suffered from neglect for about 20 years.
Facilities include:
