Listed Buildings
Introduction
The District of Maldon is rich in historic buildings with a quite remarkable wealth of late medieval, 17th and 18th century buildings. Listed buildings add to the character of a town or village or rural landscape setting, providing interest and enjoyment for all. The government has responsibility for the statutory listing of buildings of special architectural or historic interest.
There are over 1,000 listed buildings in the Maldon District including the 13th century Beeleigh Abbey, a medieval vicarage in Maldon, a Victorian railway station and a 20th century icon (Corinthian Yacht club) in Burnham-on-Crouch.
