The aim

At the meeting of Council on 21 July 2011 Councillors agreed an approach for progression and production of a Local Development Plan for the Maldon District. This follows the reforms being introduced to the planning system by the Government, including the Localism Agenda, and subsequent discussions with elected Members.

The Local Development Plan will be based largely upon the existing draft Core Strategy document, but there will be amendments and additions to certain aspects of the Plan. An indicative timeline has been prepared which includes additional consultation with the town and parish councils, stakeholders and the public. Officers will now be developing the future timetable and work programme, and further details will be made available in due course.

Once adopted, the Local Development Plan will replace the saved policies of the Replacement Local Plan and Proposals Maps 2005.
