Maldon District Council Wins Planning Appeal

Maldon District Council has won a recent appeal which has significance on the importance on the historic environment and our heritage assets.
Mr Richard McCoy the Planning Inspector appointed by the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government was asked to hear two appeals by Mr M Clarke of Hill Place , Rectory Lane , Woodham Mortimer, Maldon into the refusal by the Council for a proposed two storey extension and internal alterations.
Mr Richard McCoy dismissed both appeals and in doing so considered the main issue as being the “the effect of the proposal on the special architectural and historic interest of the listed building”.
Councillor Mrs Penny Channer, Chairman of the Council’s Planning and Licensing Committee said;” We are obviously pleased that the Planning Inspector has agreed with the views of our professional officers. It is important that we conserve and protect out historic architectural environment and in winning this appeal we have managed to do just that”.
