Maldon District Council Rangers, Ben Chapman, Jim Brunt, Gary Bacon, Geoff Cox and Adrian Rayner will be growing a moustache from the 1st to the 30 November.
Movember, 'Giving your Face for a Good Cause' is an annual event whereby money is raised for Men's Health Issues such as Prostrate Cancer and Testicular Cancer amongst other things.
They will all start clean shaven and hope to attract financial support for doing so. To sponsor go to http://mobro.co/benchapman and select one of the Park Rangers to sponsor or see the general website on www.movember.com
During November each year, the organisation Movember is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men's faces in the UK and around the world. The aim of which is to raise vital funds and awareness for men's health, specifically prostate cancer and other cancers that affect men.
On November 1st, guys register at Movember.com with a clean-shaven face and then for the rest of the month, these selfless and generous men, known as Mo Bros, groom, trim and wax their way into the annals of fine moustachery. Supported by the women in their lives, Mo Sistas, Movember Mo Bros raise funds by seeking out sponsorship for their Mo-growing efforts.
Mo Bros effectively become walking, talking billboards for the 30 days of November and through their actions and words raise awareness by prompting private and public conversation around the often ignored issue of men's health.
Councillors Mrs Brenda Harker, Chaiman of the Council's Community Services Committee said; "This fun event highlights the serious issues of men's health problems which are often not talked about. I am proud of the fact that our Rangers are helping to raise funds for these important issues whilst highlighting a serious message".
