Description

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and skilled Senior Finance Specialist to lead the Council’s Service Finance Team. You will work closely with the Deputy Section 151 Officer to manage and report financial information from the Council's service areas.

Your role will focus on budget setting and budget management, including reporting, service support, business plan development, savings and transformation programmes, and acting as a 'critical friend' to Assistant Directors and Budget Managers. Understanding local government funding, including grants, fees & charges, and the Collection Fund, is essential.

You will manage four direct reports in the budget monitoring team and report to the Deputy S151 Officer. We seek a dynamic, resilient individual with excellent communication skills, capable of working with minimal supervision, motivating your team, and performing well under pressure to meet tight deadlines. Your contributions will significantly impact the Council's overall work.

To excel in this role, you must, as a minimum, be studying towards an accountancy or leadership qualification and demonstrate in-depth knowledge and experience in local government finance. You must understand the relevant legislation and CIPFA regulations that guides a local authority finance team, as your expertise and experience will help the Council successfully achieve its goals.
