We want to hear the views of residents and visitors on dogs in public spaces.
The current Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) is due for renewal in July. It has proved to be a valuable tool in the control of dogs throughout the District and the Council is looking to renew it for another three years.
The PSPO provides some specific conditions on controlling dogs in areas of Promenade Park, the Quaysides in Burnham-on-Crouch and Maldon, and Burnham-on-Crouch and Heybridge Cemeteries.
In addition, this time we would also like your views on two new conditions; the possibility of extending the PSPO to two areas of open sports pitches and extending the need for dogs to be kept on leads in certain areas to be year-round instead of seasonal.
If the PSPO is agreed, the current arrangement where owners can be fined would continue. Fines can be given for issues such as failing to pick up dog faeces or failing to put a dog on a lead in designated areas.
The Council wants to hear your views on the proposal of renewing the current PSPO.
Let us know what you think by completing this short questionnaire
It will be available between Monday 10th April and the 22nd May.
You can view the maps of the areas that the PSPO relates to here.
