The Government announced at the beginning of February that households in band A - D properties will receive a £150 council tax rebate.
The Government's deadline for issuing payments for the main scheme is 30 September, but we are very conscious of the financial challenges facing our residents and we are doing all we can to issue those payments as quickly as possible.
The first phase of payments has now been administered and the majority of Direct Debit payers who are eligible for the £150 energy rebate should have received the payment into their bank account on or around Wednesday 8 June 2022.
The second phase of payments has also now been administered and the majority of customers who completed our online form by Thursday 16 June, and who are eligible, for the £150 energy rebate should receive the payment into their bank account in the next few days from Monday 20 June 2022.
If you do not receive a payment and pay by direct debit or if you have already completed a form so that we can make a payment to you, please do not call us. We will continue to work hard to pay these grants as soon as possible but we can not answer individual queries about when payments can be expected. Thank you for your patience.
For those residents who do not pay by direct debit, there is a form on our website to register their bank account details, which will enable payments for them to be processed as soon as we are able to do so.
If you live in a band A - D property, please don't call us - we will contact you to confirm if you are eligible.
To qualify for the £150 Energy Rebate on the 1 April 2022 you
1. must be the named Council Tax bill payer and
2. occupy, as your main home, a property in bands A to D (you cannot get the rebate for a second home or an unoccupied property) or
3. occupy, as your main home, a property in band E and qualify for the disabled band reduction
NB: You will still be eligible if you receive 100% Council Tax Support and you meet the above criteria.
We have been given £132,000 to provide a £150 rebate to support customers who do not qualify under the main scheme. Once our discretionary scheme has been agreed this page will be updated with more information and details on how to apply.
Payments will be made to the person who is the Council Tax bill payer on our records and only one payment will be made per household regardless of the number of occupants. If you have had a change in circumstances that will affect your entitlement you must contact us immediately and request that our records are updated (e.g. a change in address).
The national deadlines for repayments are 30 September 2022 (main scheme) and 30 November 2022 (discretionary scheme) but we hope to complete all payments before these dates.
If you are eligible, pay your Council Tax by Direct Debit and are in bands A to D this will be paid automatically, so you do not need to take any action.
If you do not pay your Council Tax by Direct Debit and in Council Tax bands A to D you will need to either sign up to pay your Council Tax by Direct Debit or complete the Energy Rebate form below.
Signing up to pay your Council Tax by direct debit now will make it quicker for us to pay you. If you wish to sign up for Direct Debit, please follow the link here: Set up Direct Debit Link
Alternatively, if you do not wish to sign up for Direct Debit we still require your bank details to pay the £150 Energy Rebate. Please complete the Energy Rebate Payment Form.
