Council Tax Energy Rebate

Energy Rebate

Alternative Fuel

The Alternative Fuel Payment (AFP) scheme is delivering £200 to households who use alternative fuels such as heating oil, liquefied petroleum gas, coal or biomass, helping around two million off-grid households to meet their energy costs this winter.

The vast majority of eligible households have received the payment automatically via their electricity supplier during February. Most households do not need to take any action to receive the support.

A small proportion of households will need to apply for the AFP scheme, for example, those without a relationship with an electricity supplier.

Check eligibility and apply on .gov site

Applications for a £400 Energy Bills Support Scheme (alternative funding) payment can now be made online by eligible households.  For further information and to apply.

Applications will be passed to us for further checks to be completed and where eligibility can be confirmed, payments will be made as soon as possible

Please do not contact us to ask about payment timescales.    Our team is currently very busy and we have a number of checks to complete once we receive the applications.  Please be assured that we  will complete these checks as soon as we are able.

Please do not contact us to ask about eligibility/payments.

All customers who have been identified as eligible for a £150 Energy Rebate payment under the main scheme have now been paid. Customers we have been unable to pay directly have had the £150.00 credited to their 2022/23 Council Tax account. Updated bills will be sent in due course, please do not contact us to request an updated Council Tax bill.

Our Discretionary scheme has been finalised.

Payments from the Discretionary Fund have been made.

In accordance with our policy we have awarded

£ 150.00 to all households in bands E-H in receipt of Council Tax support or Housing Benefit

£ 30.50 top up to all households in bands A-H in receipt of Council Tax support or Housing Benefit

Where we hold bank details we have paid these by BACS and they should be received by customers on or around Monday 28/11/22, if we do not hold bank details the award has been credited to 2022/23 Council Tax account

The Government's deadline for issuing payments for the main scheme is 30 September and we have done all that we can to issue those payments.

We will continue to work hard to pay the discretionary payments as soon as possible but we can not answer individual queries about when payments can be expected. The Government deadline to issue discretionary payments is 30 November 2022. Thank you for your patience.

We have been given £132,000 to provide a rebate to support customers who do not qualify under the main scheme.

The majority of Direct Debit payers who are eligible for the £150 energy rebate should have received the payment into their bank account on or around Wednesday 8 June 2022.

The majority of customers who completed our online form by Thursday 16 June, and who were eligible, for the £150 energy rebate should have received the payment into their bank account from Monday 20 June 2022.

All forms received up to noon on Wednesday 6 July 2022 were reviewed and eligible customers should have received the £150 payment into their bank account from 11 July 2022.

All forms received up to and including Monday 8 August 2022 were reviewed and eligible customers should have received the £150 payment into their bank account from 15 August 2022.
