Fly tipping

'Fly tipping' or 'dumping' are the common terms used to describe the illegal deposit of any waste onto land and is both illegal and dangerous.

It is an offence* to fly-tip any material, and offenders can be fined up to £50,000 and /or 5 years imprisonment. Fines are unlimited if the case goes to the County Court.

By removing any fly tipping as soon as possible we will not only be improving our local environment, but we will be improving the quality of life for many residents. Once reported, the waste can be removed and an investigation can take place.

Residents can also help prevent fly tipping by only using registered waste carriers for any removal of rubbish. Residents who do not use a registered waste carrier could face a fine.
