Permitted development for householders

Certain alterations and extensions to houses and bungalows can be carried out without the need to apply for planning permission. This is known as 'Permitted Development'. Please note that permitted development does not apply to flats, maisonettes, mobile homes or residential caravans.

Some extensions and alterations to your home can be carried out without requiring planning permission. The type of extensions and alterations that can be carried out as permitted development will depend on whether you live in a detached or terraced property.
