Explaining your choices

Affordable housing

Affordable homes are built for people who are unable to afford to rent or buy property available on the open market.

Affordable homes can include properties for social rent, intermediate rent or for shared ownership or other part buy/part rent schemes.

To apply for an affordable home, you need to register online at Gateway to Homechoice.

The 'waiting list'

Gateway to Homechoice (the housing 'waiting list') is a choice based letting scheme which means that you get to choose from a selection of homes available.
