Register to Vote
You can register to vote if you are aged 16 or over, although you cannot vote until you are 18, and:
- a British citizen
- a citizen of the Republic of Ireland or other European Union member states (opens a new window)
- a citizen of a British Overseas Territory or a Commonwealth country (opens a new window)
How do I register to vote?
- Once you've applied (using the button above), you'll get a confirmation letter from Electoral Services to say that you're registered
- If your name, date of birth and national insurance number are not verified after you have applied to be registered, the Electoral Registration Office will contact you to clarify any element of their application or to ask you to provide documentary evidence, such as a passport, to support their application
