COVID-19: support for businesses

We are continuing the work to get Small Business and Retail, Hospitatliry and Leisure grants paid as soon as we have all of the information we need to do so.

Please note that the payments will be made to nominated accounts via BACS and could take 3-5 working days to reach the account. We are contacting businesses by email to confirm the outcome of applications.

We would ask for your patience and understanding at this time and to not contact us for an update on your application as this is only diverts our resources away from making payments.

If you have not yet completed this form and think you are eligible for a grant, please do so as soon as possible.

If you connect with other business owners who might also be eligible, please ask them to check.  We have heard that some small business owners who received a 'zero' bill from us in March think that they can't get this grant.  It is simple and costs nothing to check and send a form in.

The Government has announced that additional funding is to be made available to small businesses that are unable to access the original grant schemes and we are reviewing further guidance we have been given in order that we can start to deliver this.

This Fund is prioritised for the following types of businesses;

  1. Small businesses in shared offices or other flexible workspaces. Examples could include units in industrial parks, science parks and incubators which do not have their own business rates assessment;
  2. Regular market traders with fixed building costs, such as rent, who do not have their own business rates assessment;
  3. Bed & Breakfasts which pay Council Tax instead of business rates;
  4. Charity properties in receipt of charitable business rates relief which would otherwise have been eligible for Small Business Rates Relief or Rural Rate Relief.

Please check back for further information.
