The Council provides a service for the collection of stray dogs during normal office hours. (08:30 to 16:30 Monday to Thursday and 08:30 to 16:00 on Fridays) please call 01621 854477.

Outside of normal office hours, including weekends and bank holidays, the Council follows Government guidance and offers an out of hours contact number for a local kennels who are contracted to provide a reception service for strays please call 07933 459097 *Please note that this is not a collection service and the dog will need to be taken to the kennel out of hours or held until normal office hours resume*

The Council are only responsible for dogs found within the Maldon District, if the dog is outside of the Maldon District please approach the local authority in which it is found.

If you find a stray dog you can also take it to a local vet, who will be able to either Identify the owner or contact the appropriate agency.

If your dog has been picked up by the Council, there will be a statutory and administration fee to pay to get the dog released.

If a stray dog requires veterinary care during its stay at the kennels, these fees are payable in full prior to the release of the dog to its owner.
