The challenge of Coronavirus (COVID-19) on our high streets
The Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has created new road safety challenges in Maldon that we are taking very seriously. Overall the number of vehicles using our roads is down, but speeding has increased as a minority of irresponsible drivers take advantage of quieter roads. We are also aware that physical distancing requirements has meant that some areas of pavements are now too narrow for people to use safely.
Options are currently being explored with Essex County Council as the Highway authority, as ensuring the safety of visitors, and help businesses reopen safely whilst maintaining social distancing, is our top priority.
