Household Support Fund

Maldon District Council have been assisting Essex County Council (ECC) with distributing £80 payments to eligible pensioners to support with rising living costs.

For those whom we hold bank details the payments were made last week and are expected to start arriving in bank accounts from 20 September 2022. Eligible pensioners who we do not hold account details for will receive a supermarket voucher from Essex County Council in the post.

The payment reference on the bank statement will show: MDC and then a supplier ref eg: MDC80000

We are NOT contacting every eligible household individually about this payment

Household Eligibility is as follows:

  • a household in receipt of Council Tax support and/or Housing Benefit and
  • which contains any person who has reached state pension age between 1st April 2022 and by 30th September 2022 and
  • where the household does not contain any person who will be under the age of 19 as at 30 September 2022  or
  • a person aged 19 or over in receipt of child benefit

The latest details from ECC can be found here:

Earlier this year the Government announced that vulnerable households will be able to access a new support fund to help with essentials over the coming months. The scheme will be administered by Essex County Council and details about how the money is being allocated and how you can apply are now available on their website.
