Livewell . . . in Maldon District!
Published on Friday, 12th January 2018
To celebrate the launch of the new countywide livewell website, Maldon District Council is hosting a free health and wellbeing event on Friday 26 January at the Council Offices from 11am-2pm.
The event is open to all members of the public and will demonstrate the engaging new website as well as providing advice from a range of agencies, ‘drop in’ fun exercise sessions, blood pressure checks, tips on healthy eating, weight management and how to keep safe.
Councillor Henry Bass, Chairman of Maldon District Council, said “The District Council is delighted to host this free event and be a partner in the Live Well Campaign. I would encourage residents to come along on the 26th of January and take advantage of this opportunity to get lots of advice that can benefit their whole family.”
One of livewell’s aims is to encourage Essex residents to be more active and to make healthier lifestyle choices for themselves and their families. The new website www.livewellcampaign.co.uk focuses on the key issues across Essex so that these can be tackled more effectively.
Residents are being encouraged to take part in a number of #21 challenges - a nod to the fact that it takes 21 days to either break or create a new habit. This could be reducing sugar intake for 21 days, having a brisk 21 minute walk for 21 days, or to refrain from eating junk food for 21 days. The more enthusiastic could try 21 sit ups for 21 days! The #21situps21days challenge will run on social media for three weeks and those who take part will be in with the chance to win prizes such as Fusion Gym memberships, the new Jamie Oliver cook book and healthy food products.
