Last Saturday 2nd June 2018 VOLFEST ’18 celebrated all that is good about volunteering.

The event in Promenade Park Maldon brought together providers of volunteering opportunities and members of the public as part of National Volunteers’ Week (Friday 1 June to Thursday 7 June, 2018).

Now in its second year, this successful event is organised by Maldon District Council, Maldon & District Community Voluntary Service and Volunteer Essex.

During the event Councillor Henry Bass, Chairman of Maldon District Council presented awards to volunteers who have gone that extra mile for their community. Cllr Bass said “I am delighted that the ‘VOLFEST’ event which is a partnership between Maldon District Council, Maldon and District CVS and Volunteer Essex has given me a wonderful opportunity to meet so many interesting people.  I am equally delighted to have been given the opportunity to award certificates and special VOLFEST medals today.”

Linda Dutaut from Maldon & District Community Voluntary Services said “Volunteering is a great way to give back to the community and we know from speaking to volunteers that it’s a great boost to their wellbeing.  VOLFEST offers a great opportunity to come along and talk face to face with volunteer involving organisations.”

Councillor Bob Boyce MBE, Chairman of Community Services Committee said “We are proud of the level of volunteering that is already in existence in our District and the great work they do. We hope that by facilitating this event, we can provide organisations with the platform to showcase their business and encourage more people to get involved in their local community.”
