Keeping active is vital for our physical and mental wellbeing. You can see all the Livewell activities and events available in the Maldon District at livewellcampaign.co.uk
Walking football is designed to give footballers over the age of 50 the opportunity to re-live their playing days. Maldon District Council's Football Development Officer Simon Walker and Community Protection Officer Jim Brunt have been running the FA approved sessions for over 3 years and its developed into a popular scheme attracting over 20 participants a week. The sessions are held every Wednesday from 5-6pm at a cost of £1 per player.
Participants often say how the scheme has helped them overcome social issues, inactivity, obesity and weight issues and well as general health, fitness and wellbeing problems including injury rehabilitation.
Simon Walker said “Maldon Walking Football has turned into a very popular weekly event, the combination of meeting new people staying fit and being able to play football again has been a big success.
Walking Football is a great sport for people of differing abilities and a great way to stay active; it is low impact and open to people of all abilities.
