Nominations invited for Maldon District’s prestigious Conservation and Design Awards 2018
Now in its 35th consecutive year, this prestigious award scheme, organised by Maldon District Council, aims to encourage a sympathetic approach to building conservation, and to promote good design and the enhancement of our natural and built environment.
There are four award categories:
- Building Conservation
- Nature Conservation / Landscape Design
Projects must have been completed (that is, used in the manner intended) before they are nominated.
Councillor Mrs Penny Channer, Chairman of the District Council’s Planning and Licensing Committee, said: “Over the past 34 years, members of the judging panel have been continually impressed with the dedication and skills demonstrated within the four categories and are looking forward to the nominations in this, the 35th year.”
Paul Dodson, Director of Planning & Regulatory Services said “Good design is so important; from expanding a family home to large scale developments that provide much needed housing. This is especially true in areas like the Maldon District, where balancing the conservation of the natural or built environment with the needs and aspirations of a growing and modern population is particularly delicate.
The award winning* Maldon District Design Guide helps builders and developers achieve this balance and these awards recognise and celebrate excellent achievements.”
