Published on Friday, 21st September 2018

Staff at Maldon District Council have been nominated in three categories in the NHS Mid Essex Commissioning Group (CCG) ‘Marvels of Mid Awards’ which are being held on Thursday 27 September 2018.

The nominated categories are:

  • Be Well Award - Simon Walker and Jim Brunt for Walking Football initiative
  • Age Well Award – Four Ts project - Chris Rust, Ben Page and Maldon & District CVS
  • Connect Well Award – Chris Rust and the Council’s Connect Well Champions

Cllr Bob Boyce MBE, Chairman of the Council’s Community Services Committee, said; “The Council is extremely proud to have been nominated by the community in three of the categories. Our staff work hard on initiatives which support the community, so it is nice for them to see their hard work and dedication recognised. I wish everyone the best of luck in the awards which highlight some of the great work being undertaken in Mid Essex.”

Sarah Troop Laskar, Director of Maldon and District CVS, added; “The nominations for Maldon District Council and partners are a recognition of the strength of the community within our District. Through Connect Well individuals are able to be signposted to many activities based in the District, many of which are successful due to the contribution of local people. The 4Ts project, of which we are a partner, is based within local communities and is successful not least by the individuals who are committed to making their villages warm and welcoming for people who are disadvantaged. We are very pleased that this community work is being recognised and keen to work more over the next twelve months to enhance and develop activities.”

Dr Caroline Dollery, local GP and Chair of NHS Mid Essex CCG said; “We will also be celebrating the stars of the mid Essex community in the third annual Marvels of Mid Awards (MOMAs). With the NHS turning 70 this year, this is a great opportunity to celebrate the outstanding contributions of local people and organisations who are making a difference in supporting local people to Live Well.”

Almost 100 nominations were received for the Marvels of Mid Awards (MOMAs) this year.
