Published on Wednesday, 5th December 2018

Maldon District Council through the livewell grant fund are supporting Abberton Rural Training (ART) for the 2019/20 period.

Abberton Rural Training is an educational organisation that delivers a set of programmes of practical and skills training to residents of Essex and surrounding areas.

The courses have a focus on supporting those living in rural locations who need help to access jobs, or further education and training, in the rural sector.

Currently ART are supporting 16 Maldon District residents through various programmes and some of the skills that they have been learning and applying are demonstrated below.

Not only are the sets of programmes giving residents practical and skills training but it is supporting their health and wellbeing too. Many residents are socially isolated and have not left their home for many years.

ART builds relationships and works with these individuals which significantly benefits their health. To find out more information about ART go to: http://www.abbertonruraltraining.org/about.html

Cllr Bob Boyce MBE, Chairman of the Council’s Community Services Committee, said: “There is some fantastic work ongoing between Maldon District residents and Abberton Rural Training. The residents are learning and being equipped with skills that will not only increase their career prospects but will make a very positive impact on their health and wellbeing too.”
